Background: This box was made as a christmas gift for Cynthia Zachar. I wanted a box to hold the hawk carving I had done for her (below).

Inspiration: I had leftover wood from making the reliquary boxes and wanted to see how maple/purple heart would look together. I also wanted to play around with inlays, thus the maple inlay stripe.

Construction: The box is made from purple heart and maple. Edges were mitered and reinforced with maple splines. It was finished with danish oil.
