Background: I wanted to make a box that felt light and was for storing small things such as tea, or little knickknacks.
Construction: The box was made from 3/8″ purple heart with a padauk inlay on the lid. The lid has a slight lip to allow it to sit in the box. This box was also my first attempt at cutting box joints. I made two of these boxes and one out of oak.
